Because of recent studies that have shown the dangerous effects of PVC to children and the environment, our meal-time accessories are free of PVC, Phthalates, Lead, and Cadmium. Currently, there are no requirements for companies to state what materials are used in their laminations or coatings. Most plastics and laminations are not PVC, Phthalate, Lead and/or Cadmium free unless otherwise stated or specified. To learn more about the dangers of PVC, please see the articles and links below.
The dangers of lead in vinyl:

Unfortunately the safer alternatives to lead plasticizers are often more expensive and are not widely used in manufacture. Most of the PVC is not made in the U.S. and is not as well regulated as it might be in the U.S. There are many articles available that discuss the need to remove lead as a plasticizer from PVC. ..."

PVC is harmful to the environment:
